Join Andrew Pickering for a 5-day course to create a stone set ring.

Location: The Centre
Duration: 5 days
Level: Beginner–Intermediate (confident hobbyists welcome)

This hands-on intensive course introduces students to the fundamentals of bezel ring fabrication and stone setting. Over five days, participants will learn how to fabricate custom bezels and rings from silver sheet and wire, set both round and shaped stones, and complete their pieces to a professional finish.

There is ample scope during the course to produce multiple finished pieces, depending on individual pace and design choices.

Hosted at The Centre in Sydney over 4 weeks on a Monday, this hands-on program will teach you not only how to execute intricate setting styles but also how to make the tools needed to do it with precision and control.

Over the schedule, participants will gain foundational knowledge and practical ability in crafting hand tools tailored for various setting techniques. Learn how to cut stars, bead set, master traditional pavé and fishtail, create bright cut shapes and lines, execute flash settings, and design under bezels for polishing — all using gravers and flat gravers you’ll learn to make yourself.
